Introduction

Economy | This update is useful for understanding financial-year periods and the difference between quarterly and half-yearly revenue.

Explanation

India Post reported ₹8,212.7 crore revenue for April–September 2026, the first half of FY 2026–27. This represented 24% year-on-year growth compared with ₹6,636 crore in the corresponding previous period. Q2 alone, covering July–September, recorded ₹4,201.5 crore. The department crossed ₹4,000 crore quarterly revenue in two consecutive quarters for the first time. The parcel vertical registered 71% year-on-year growth. Do not substitute Q2 revenue for H1 revenue: H1 contains the first two quarters. Revenue also describes receipts from business activity; it should not automatically be read as profit.
