This question explains why eclipses are rare events despite Moon-Sun-Earth alignment happening monthly. The Moon is large enough to cause both solar and lunar eclipses as it regularly does. Lunar eclipse is the complementary phenomenon to solar eclipse. When Moon comes between Sun and Earth it causes SOLAR eclipse not lunar eclipse. Solar eclipse = Moon blocks Sun from Earth. The Sun cannot physically come between Earth and Moon in this context. The Sun is the central star far from both Earth and Moon. Moon-Earth light travel time is an important astronomical fact. This is the time for SUNLIGHT to reach Earth from the SUN (distance 150 million km). The Moon is MUCH closer to Earth than the Sun. Confusing Moon and Sun distances is a common exam error. Option B (1 minute 28 seconds) is CORRECT. The average distance from Moon to Earth is approximately 384,400 km = 3.844×10⁸ m. Time = Distance/Speed = 3.844×10⁸ / 3×10⁸ ≈ 1.28 seconds. Wait — the image says 1 minute 28 seconds. The commonly cited Moon distance is 384,400 km giving ~1.28 seconds. One light-year is the distance light travels in one year (9.46×10¹⁵ m). The Sun is only about 8.3 light-minutes away not 1 light-year.

Radio waves are electromagnetic waves and in vacuum they travel at the same speed as light (3×10⁸ m/s). They are not faster than light. X-rays are also electromagnetic waves and travel at exactly the same speed as light in vacuum (3×10⁸ m/s). Higher frequency/energy does not mean higher speed for EM waves in vacuum. Visible light is also an electromagnetic wave traveling at 3×10⁸ m/s in vacuum — same as all other EM waves. ALL electromagnetic waves (radio waves microwaves infrared visible light UV X-rays gamma rays) travel at exactly the same speed in vacuum: c = 3×10⁸ m/s. They differ in frequency and wavelength but NOT in speed in vacuum. Cosmic rays are charged particles (protons electrons) and travel SLOWER than light. Therefore among the EM waves listed all have equal maximum speed of 3×10⁸ m/s.

The straight-line propagation of light is a fundamental optical principle. Light (photons) has zero rest mass. Being heavy would actually relate to gravitational effects not straight-line propagation. The statement that light is heavy is physically incorrect. Light appears to travel in straight lines because its wavelength (390-780 nm) is extremely small compared to everyday objects. When wavelength is very small diffraction effects (bending around obstacles) become negligible and light effectively travels in straight rays. Having no mass does not by itself cause straight-line propagation. Gravitational waves also have no mass associated with their carriers but follow curved paths near massive objects. Masslessness is a property of photons but not the reason for straight-line propagation. Light travels in straight lines in all transparent media not just vacuum. The discovery that white light is a mixture of all colors is a landmark in optics. Maxwell (1831-1879) developed the electromagnetic wave theory of light and worked on color photography but he did not discover that white light is a combination of all colors. Maxwell's color triangle related to color perception not dispersion. Einstein worked on quantum theory photoelectric effect and relativity. He did not perform the prism dispersion experiment to show white light composition. Isaac Newton in 1666 performed his famous prism experiment at Cambridge University. He passed a beam of white sunlight through a glass prism and observed that it split into the seven colors VIBGYOR (Violet Indigo Blue Green Yellow Orange Red) called the spectrum. He then used a second prism to recombine the spectrum back into white light proving that white light is a combination of all colors. Huygens (1629-1695) developed the wave theory of light and Huygens' principle for wavefront propagation but did not perform the definitive prism dispersion experiment to prove white light composition.

UV radiation is important in many scientific and health contexts. Option A (390-780 nm) is wrong. This is the range of VISIBLE light not UV. UV starts just below the visible range. Option B (800-1000 nm) is wrong. This range is infrared (IR) radiation which is also invisible but is heat radiation used in TV remotes and thermal cameras. Option C (400-700 nm) is CORRECT.
