Sher Shah Suri won the Battle of Chausa in 1539, defeating Humayun. This was the first major defeat of Humayun by Sher Shah, who then went on to win the Battle of Kanauj in 1540, forcing Humayun into exile.

The Battle of Talikota (1565) is also known as the Battle of Rakshas-Tangadi after the specific location where it was fought. It resulted in the defeat and destruction of the Vijayanagara Empire by the Deccan Sultanates.

The Second Battle of Tarain was fought in 1192 between Muhammad of Ghor (Muhammad Ghori) and Prithviraj Chauhan III. Muhammad Ghori won decisively, killing or capturing Prithviraj Chauhan and establishing Muslim power in North India.

The Battle of Wandiwash was fought on January 22, 1760, between the British East India Company forces (under Sir Eyre Coote) and the French forces (under Comte de Lally). The British won, effectively ending French power in India.

The Battle of Karnal was fought on February 13, 1739, between the Persian invader Nadir Shah and the Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah. Nadir Shah won decisively and subsequently looted Delhi, taking away the Peacock Throne and the Koh-i-Noor diamond.

The Battle of Bhopal was fought in 1737 between the Maratha forces under Baji Rao I (the great Peshwa) and the Mughal forces under Muhammad Shah's general. The Marathas won, allowing Baji Rao I to march close to Delhi.

The Battle of Assaye was fought on September 23, 1803, between the British East India Company under Arthur Wellesley (future Duke of Wellington) and the Maratha forces of Daulat Rao Scindia and Bhonsle. The British won decisively.
